The Thomson Family - Tim's Road to Recovery

$2,235 donated
Given by 38 generous donors in around 7 months

This is dedicated to a good mate who would do anything and everything for a friend in need.

Auckland

This Give A Little group is dedicated to a good friend of mine, his wife and his family.

On Sunday 28th August we got a call letting us know that our friend is in Auckland Hospital in a induced coma in critical condition after falling and badly hitting his head.

His parents were told that if he wakes there will be brain damage but they cannot say how bad until he is awake.

He has had several operations to stop the bleeding and swelling in his brain and a piece of his skull removed to try reduce the pressure from swelling.

His brothers have flown over from Switzerland and Australia, his wife has flown up from Christchurch and his parents are driving daily from Glen Eden, Auckland to Auckland Hospital to spend the day waiting and hoping for good news.

A week later and Tim being the fighter he is has slowly started waking up, he is having trouble speaking and moving his left side due to the damage to the right side of his brain. He has done amazing progress in such short amount of time and with the all the love and support from his friends and family we know that he is going to get through the tough journey ahead of him.

Please if you can lend a helping hand to the Thomson Family and his wife by kindly donating to help with any of the costs that they will face during Tims recovery.

All support and generosity will be greatly appreciated and is going to a good cause.

Thank you.

Update on Tims Recovery  17 September 2016

I have been in to see how Tim is getting along. He is doing well, but he is finding it very difficult coping with the frustration of not being able to remember things.

He has pictures up on his wall in hospital to remind him of his family and a poster telling him who he is and why he is in hospital.

This has been a very hard thing for Tim to cope with but with his loving wife and his parents by his side he is finding the strength to continue fighting this battle.

Over the next couple of weeks his wife Emma is making the trip down to Christchurch to pack up their home and make the move back up to Auckland. This has been an extremely difficult time for her as she has left her job to be up here to support her husband, with no stable income things are becoming increasingly stressful and concerns of everyday costs like food, petrol and hospital parking are growing.

The good news is that on Monday he is being transferred to the ABI Rehabilitation Center in Ranui, Auckland, they are the top in NZ who specialise in the rehabilitation of Traumatic Brain Injurys where he will get the best possible care.

Thank you all for keeping positive and just being there for the Thomsons.
