LifeLine New Zealand

LifeLine New Zealand

LifeLine New Zealand provides the 0800 number that is available 24/7, 365 days a year throughout New Zealand.

Auckland

LifeLine New Zealand sets and monitors the standards of training of LifeLine's telephone counsellors, and determines the policies and guidelines that provide the infrastructure of centres throughout New Zealand. Via a National Clinical Manager, it accredits the clinical standards and administrative practices of member centres to ensure they are legally and clinically sound.

LifeLine New Zealand has been in existence for over 30 years - founded by concerned Lifeline centres (some founded in the 1960s) in order to set and maintain standards for training and administration. In 2008, via the 0800 number, over 80,000 calls were answered by our volunteers in our nine centres around New Zealand. And the number is still climbing.

Update for 09/03/2011  9 March 2011

LifeLine in Christchurch is alive and well! All the staff and telephone?counsellors got out of the building safely.?Now, a?bit battered and temporarily homeless but struggling to get back to normal. The Christchurch centre is working out of a port-a-com in a car park; the national office staff are working from their respective homes. The 0800 number is being served by other LifeLine centres around the country. All calls to the Christchurch local number are being served by LifeLine Auckland. Many, many thanks to all those?kind?people who have sent good wishes; and to those volunteers around the country who are putting in extra shifts to make sure that the phones are answered.
