GAP has kennel bases in the Waikato, Manawatu and Canterbury Districts where all our greyhounds are assessed and prepared for their new lives. We also have a great team of foster carers who help the dogs adjust to the home environment and also groups of supporters all over NZ who get together for walks and events.
We now have over 1,000 greyhounds in homes from Invercargill to Kerikeri!

Greyhounds usually have a lovely gentle nature and make amazing pets, but should always be kept on a lead in a situation where they might see something worth chasing! Bea Custance on 24 Jun 2014 at 23:03

I met a lovely woman and a lovely greyhound on Lmabton Quay today and I had a really nice discussion with her. Both the woman and the dog were such nice souls and I appreciated very much what I learned about your organization. Helen McNaught on 28 Feb 2014 at 19:04

Over $10,000 raised on the Greyhounds As Pets Street Appeal!
Thank you to everyone who donated to our appeal.
Around 40 owners and their hounds took part on the day, rattling buckets on the streets in Wellington and around the country. Not only did we reach our fundraising target, the extra publicity also resulted in an influx of adoption applications!
Our team are now busy visiting prospective owners and matching them with their perfect greyhound :-)
Thanks again for your support!
The Greyhounds As Pets Appeal day is 1 March 2013. We desperately need funds for kennelling and veterinary bills. Please give the hounds a little something on this special day!
Nearly 900 greyhounds successfully placed in homes around New Zealand. We can't wait to make the big 1,000. Thank you to everyone who is helping us on our way!
Over 400 greyhounds have now been successfully adopted to homes throughout New Zealand! Thank you to everyone who has helped with looking after them.
After successful summer GAP now has over 350 greyhounds in pet homes. This summer also saw the opening of our new South Island kennel base in Amberley (45 mins north of Christchurch) and the purchase of a new vehicle dedicated to transporting our greyhounds. We were able to purchase our Geyhound Bus after Auckland supporters raised $12,000 through a fundraising tennis tournament. What a great year!
