Help bring Lance home to New Zealand where he can be laid to rest.
Northland
Our friend and brother Lance Matene passed away unexpectedly at his home in Tokyo, Japan on June 23. This group's purpose is to provide a secure and easy way for his friends and family to contribute towards bringing him home to New Zealand and to funeral costs.
Lance's mum and brother are flying to Japan to wrap up his affairs and bring him home and as you can imagine this is both a very stressful and expensive undertaking, particularly air fares at such short notice.
Any help you can give to make this time easier for Lance's family would be greatly appreciated.
Lance has been family since the day I met him on our way to start at BYU-Hawaii 21 years ago. He was the go-between for my first date with his cousin Aryan and it wasn't long before he and I really became family when Ary succumbed to my charm and cunning use of the commitment pattern and we were married in the temple linking our families together for time and all eternity.
He's home! 6 July 2015
Kia ora whanua. Lance arrived back home in New Zealand on Sunday morning, 12 days after his passing, and was brought home to his waiting family in Kaikohe later that night.
A special karakia will be held at the LDS Chapel in Kaikohe at 11am on Tuesday 7 July. From there Lance will travel to Te Maata marae, Tautoro. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday 8 July at Te Maata marae, Tautoro. Lance will be laid to rest close to his Papa Dinky at Reihana TauKawau cemetery.
Thank you again for all of your love and support. We are so relieved to have him home and grateful for everything you have and are doing to honour Lance and support his family at this time.
