CommArc Staff Head Shave

  • Update on the shave

      14 May 2010

Well we have done the deed and all been shaved. ?There were some last minute volunteers from within the spectators (those we suspect some of those may have just wanted cheap haircuts?). A huge thanks to all those that donated before, during and after the event. ? If you haven't donated yet, its not too late, this page is still available until early next week. Pictures will be posted within the next few days but if you miss them here, feel free to contact one of the CommArc team who would be happy to provide them. Thanks again from and to the CommArc team!

  • Paula's Story

      1 April 2010

Paula Sillars is one of our Systems Architects. ""In the past few years I have had a number of family members fight battles against various forms of cancer including my Aunt Doreen who passed away a few weeks after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.? Many of my childhood holiday memories include Doreen - she was prone to fits of the giggles and we seemed to spent the weeks together constantly laughing.?? Another aunt has recently also had a battle with breast cancer and just today my mum is having a melanoma removed from her nose for the second time. Cancer affects people of all ages and if shaving off my hair helps raise some money for CCF and Canteen then its the least I can do.""

  • Nicola's story

      30 March 2010

Nicola McMillan who works in our Response Centre, is a cancer survivor, this is her story. ""2.5 Years ago at age 23 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkinfs Lymphoma. I was lucky, after 6 months of chemo I was officially placed in remission and could get on with my life. During that time I went to a few Canteen events and got to know some of the young people, I also got to see firsthand exactly how much Canteen does for those young people. Now I feel it is time for me to give something back. If giving up my hair is the price to be paid for helping out these 2 amazing charities then for me it is a small price to pay. ""

  • Carl's Story

      29 March 2010

We are going to be sharing some of the stories of our team and why they are supporting the cause. First up, is Carl Waldron in our Response Centre - ""I am doing this because after a couple of long battles with cancer, my mother-in-law, the nicest lady I have ever met, died 5 1/2 years ago. I have seen how these organisations work to help the Cancer patients and their families.""
