On Tuesday 13 September, Jesse Warena a received the devastating news that there was nothing more that could be done for his Lymphoma.

Hawke's Bay

On Tuesday 13 September, Tamatea High School Year 13,student, Jesse Warena and his mum, Pearl McRae received the devastating news that there is nothing more that can be done for 17 year old Jesse’s Lymphoma. The only option is palliative care.

Jesse has spent the past year moving through cycles of Chemotherapy in Hastings, and Radiation in Palmerston North with Mum by his side. His older brothers James and Justin and sister Kim have been helping Mum to keep things going. Dad had been supporting and is still caring but he is fighting his own cancer battle in Palmerston North and the medical staff there have told the family that anyone/everyone that wants to see Dad, John Warena, needs to come home now.

This is a family under siege but there is another layer of sadness to this story. Jesse is the baby of the family and in 2007 his oldest brother Jon died at age 18, in tragic circumstances. Pearl waited at Hawke’s Bay airport for Jon to return from Perth not knowing that he had been murdered in a fight.

The next few weeks and months are going to be hard for Jesse and his family. His family are taking it day by day and continue to face these hard times with strength, courage and dignity.

This givealittle page was started to provide financial support for the family. It can provide some bucket list items for Jesse (high on the list is a skydive), it can give Pearl some financial support so that she and the family can focus on sharing time with Jesse.

Please show you support for Jesse, Pearl, John, James, Justin and Kim. No amount is too small as every little bit will make a difference.

Cindy Morgan's involvement (page creator)

I am involved because Matua Robin Fabish of Tamatea High School suggested we set up a page. I am keen for Jesse and his family to feel the love and support for them that exists within the community.

Last day at school  13 October 2016

Jesse had his last day at school today. He was carried in by his family and friends for a service in the school auditorium. Past and present students of Tamatea, Jesse's former classmates from St John's College, Jesse's whanau and friends gathered for speeches, songs, prayers, tears, and laughter. Jesse, with the hint of his smile and dressed in his school blazer and his Rugby tie, looked at peace.

All too soon it was over and Jesse was taken from school for the last time to Pukemokimoki Marae. He will be there until his service at 11am Saturday. (This is a change of day).
