  • Crossed fingers

      21 September 2015

Pauline came out of Hospital on Tuesday 8th Sept, 10 days after our wedding night.

The cellulitis, and resulting swelling has gone down thankfully, and is a big relief.

We missed one chemo session because of this, and then had our appointment at Auckland Hospital where the all clear was given to commence further treatment.

Friday 18th was the next treatment, and we have one on the 25th and the 2nd October coming.

Then, I believe they are going to access the effect the treatment has had.

    Fingers Crossed !!

  • Next Round

      12 September 2015

We spent our honeymoon at the A&E, North Shore hospital on Sunday 30 the August, and Pauline has been in hospital till Tuesday 8th September.

Complications meant we have had to miss the due Chemo round, which is coming up next week.

It has been enormously difficult having to leave the family business unattended, and is taking its toll on us financially, mentally and physically.

We simply cannot believe how some invisible hand is just wiping us off the table, nor for what reason. We have always been kind, always helped others, always tried to do our utmost to do the right things.

Lets hope as the winter fades away, the warmth of the coming summer brings the energy and blessing to blossom again in happiness and health.

  • Rough Sailing

      5 September 2015

The first chemo seemed to go quite well. First time I have ever been to Auckland hospital to see it done. That was on a Friday. By Monday, I guess it was taking its hold, and although loaded with anti nausea tablets, it was a pretty rough three days.

On the side, I had wondered to myself, what on earth I could possibly do, to help. Just being there, comforting etc. just seemed so futile.

There was one thing left I could really do. I would marry my 17 year sweetheart. Something we have tried to do twice before, by always had to put off and step aside for others.

Not this time. We have a budget of nothing, so I sold a few things that really are not that important. With the unbelievable generousity of the Riverhead Tavern, who gave us a venue at half price, friends set about how to plan a day to remember.

We had invites made for us, flowers were donated, and everyone contributed to the food cost by paying per head. ( and the food was absolutely beautiful ).

Womens day magazine had photographers and organised a hair and make up afternoon for Pauline and her daughters.

This is what we told Pauline, some lovely people were shouting you a day with your daughters, a girly day, hair and make up, and then some family photos ( as we have very few of those ).

Pauline didn't know about the wedding. We kept it a secret. All was organised.

But then she had the second chemo on Friday the 28th.

    The day before.

On Saturday morning, Pauline was not well. She didn't want to go out at all. And understandably so.

I waited some while, and she seemed so tired. Quietly I said to her, " Pauline, we have this little day for you and the girls. Just some fun for a wee bit, some photos that the kids will cherish, and a day the girls will remember for ever." She looked at me gracefully, a little smile.

" In the afternoon," I said, " I am going to marry you.".

Her eyes swelled with tears: it was a very deep moment.

After a little, I had to leave her to open the workshop for the morning. It was so hard to go.

The girls as planned, turned up and they had there day. Two Mustang cars provided by two very kind blokes, took Pauline and the girls to Riverhead ... and the rest well.....absolutely amazing...

  • First Chemo date confirmed

      15 August 2015

The 21st of this month, next week, is the first chemo session.

We are praying the side effects will be merciful.

Another avenue we looked at is the vitamin C intravenous injectionsafter the Chemo. I have had more than a few cancer patients tell me this is a good avenue, if not a cure, certainly a big relief.

its expensive and something we can ill afford, so thanks to all you beautiful people, we have enough here for a start.

Thank you so much. honestly you couldn't imagine how grateful we are.

  • Progress update

      12 August 2015

As you all know Pauline has been given a very short time left with us. However we will not give up without a fight . So chemo is the road that we are going to take alongside going organic and intravenous vitamin c . The cost of the intravenous alone is a total of $3500 over a period of 10 weeks so we really are going to need all the help we can get .

Please everyone from the kindness of your hearts help Pauline financially to fight this battle .

  • Up coming Event

      10 August 2015
    Main image

Thanks to some totally amazing people, a girls day out has been sponsored for the 29th August.

It is a morning where Pauline and the girls can go and just have one of those mornings doing what girls do, hair do's, and nails and make up, and some photos.

This is just so special, something we could never afford to just go and do.

Honestly, the kindness and generosity of folks, like you, leaves me speechless.

Will post some pictures of the day for sure,

    Thank you so much.

  • Oncologists meeting

      2 August 2015

Hi everyone. Well we had our meeting and although the prognosis was not what we wanted to hear, it seems to have spelt out what we feared most.

it seems the chemotherapy road is the next step, and it will be no easy road to follow...so here goes...

Thank you all, you lovely people for your kindness and generousity. May you be blessed in your lives with happiness and health. We are so grateful that there are not enough words to say.
