terminal at a young age

  • Date with the specialists

      15 May 2015

yesterday we had our date and received the news that Toby has been given up to a year to live. This is a hard update to do but we want to keep everyone informed. The help we have received has been amazing and we are very grateful for every donation that has been made. Toby is an incredible young man and i am honored to call him my son. We will be making the most of the time we have together with friends and family and making memories for us to have in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Toby is deciding if he would like to have some radiation or chemo or both these treatments will not prolong anything but can be done in the hope to keep him mobile for longer so he can enjoy life more. Once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

  • Toby is home

      25 April 2015

just a quick update to say Toby is home by the sounds of it for a week until he starts chemo, he is managing to walk aided with a walking frame and is getting more feeling back each day. We have been over whelmed as a family to how generous people have been and wish to thank each and every one who has helped us. Toby was blown away when he got home and found a new bedroom waiting for him as we had to move him to a larger room in the house for wheel chair access. He also came home to a new bed which he absolutely loves. One foot in front of the other slowly but surely. Regards from Julie

  • a word from mum

      21 April 2015

Hi I am Tobys mum my name is Julie. I would just like to thank everybody for the love thoughts and of course the donations that have been made, it will diffidently help when I need to take time off work. Toby is an incredible young man I am so proud to say he is my son, we fought the last battle together and I know we can do it again. we are limited with the information we are getting from the hospital at the moment and are waiting to find out when he will be going down to palmerston for chemo but we had a proud moment yesterday when he took 2 steps so the lesson for the week for us is one foot in front of the other and we will get there

  • Hope and pray for my brother

      19 April 2015

So we have an update on Toby, Thank goodness the cancer is only in his spine and ribs they couldn't find any anywhere else, They are unable to answer many more questions because getting cancer in the spine and ribs has never happened to someone after having osteosarcoma good news is it is treatable bad news its not curable.

Toby will be moved closer to home soon and will be having treatment in Palmerston north . Doctors unable to answer our questions is hard but also gives us hope, they can not put a time frame on how long Toby has but this has taught myself and my family to make the most of life and if you look at the life you are living, if you were told tomorrow you are going to die would you be happy with the things you have done?? Would you be satisfied?

My brother is awesome he is an amazing uncle to both of my kids and i couldnt ask for a better family, I know he has the strength to do this he has kicked its ass once and im sure he can again..

Another huge thank you to everyone supporting him, He is writing a bucket list which would be amazing to be able to help him fulfill his dreams <3

      16 April 2015

Hi to all those people who are halping my amazing brother and family through this struggle, so far it has been 3 days since we found out toby had cancer in the spine and ribs.

He had his operation on tuesday at lunch time and has feeling in his feet again and has some movement of his leg, yesterday he had scans on his organs and today for his bones, We have been told we should have answers tomorrow and fingers crossed we do as hard as it is feeling so useless and unable to my brother this wait is also tormenting for the family and toby himself, But a huge thank you to all the people that have donated to help us, it is great knowing toby will have a support person with him so he wont be doing this alone.

Whatever journey we are about to take i know we can fight this as a family with all the support and love we have from everyone and i know my brother is strong and he conquer it :) .. New updates tomorrow :) xx

Young Toby is one amazing guy, full of life, attitude, and adventure. He is so positive in all he does. This guy and his family deserve all the help you can give so Toby can kick it once again!
