We aim to run the "Around the mountain relay" twice back to back, both times under 9hrs to raise Jenna's $3000 a month treatment costs.
Nationwide
On the 29th of August 2013, 25 year old Jenna Drought was admitted to St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, with slurred speech and unsteadiness on her feet. During the following weeks in the Neurology Ward, Jenna endured a series of diagnostic procedures and tests including lumbar punches, biopsies, MRI scans and multiple plasma exchanges. She was finally diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called Tumefactive Multiple Sclerosis. It is a very rare condition, and the only treatment that seems to be helping is a prescription drug called Tysabri. It costs about $3000 per month for a term of two years. Pharmac has declined to fund this treatment leaving all funding up to her parents, Warren and Kerry.
Warren is a good mate of ours, and to help fundraise we plan or running the Steelformers Around the Mountain Relay on 7 and 8 November. Actually, as a team of 16 runners we are aiming to do it twice. Back to back. Which is a total of 304km! AND we also want to do it both times in under 9hours. Our best so far (and the current record) is 9.03.31. We want to raise at least $18,000, which is 6 months treatment.
Please help Jenna get back to the healthy, active, positive much loved community member that she once was by donating to this cause.
Thank you very much.
