To provide the children of Chatham Island a Kids Can Cook Experience
Nationwide
The Kids Can Cook Kitchen has cooked in over 200 schools around NZ from Invercargill to the Far North. There are two Schools, Te One and Kaingaroa on Chatham Island and this cause would allow them to experience the Kids Can Cook Kitchen program. If we can raise enough funds we would also go to Pitt Island
The Fortune Family rented out their house in Marlborough 12 months ago to travel around NZ delivering cooking programs to more than 35,000 children nationwide. Kacey Fortune (12), Holly (7) have been homeschooled by their mum Tina while Chris works with Primary Schools, High Schools and Colleges.
The program is comprised of produce from their school garden, prepared fresh and cooked on the Kids Can Cook Kitchen in a fun and interactive manner.
‘What’s on your Plate’ is an inquiry into the influences on our food choices using the social inquiry approach through regional schools. Our focus is to look at what food choices are grown locally and what is available to students and their families for consumption, as well as the impact that this has on them, their community and globally. Mother nature and seasonality are mixed with some fun and baked into an interactive and social kitchen experiment.

One of the best places in New Zealand - Kids Can Cook on Stewart Island 26 August 2014
The Kids Can Cook Kitchen has just returned from visiting Stewart Island ---- wow ----- a great school, great community and kids ---- we can only imagine what the Chatham Islands are like and with your support we can provide them with a Kids Can Cook Kitchen experience. In 2013 we have travelled nationwide from Southland to the Far North, visiting over 35,000 plus children, from small rural schools to large city schools. We are fundraising with Give a Little to travel to visit two Schools on the Chatham Islands - www.kidscancookkitchen.org.nz
