Help provide free books to children bereaved in road crashes in te reo Maori and Chinese.

Nationwide

Brake provides a support book for children bereaved in a road crash free of charge to families who need it.

This book is currently only available in English.

We need your help to get it published in te reo Maori and Chinese too, to help even more families through a distressing time.

When someone you love dies in a road crash it is a shattering experience, whether you are a grown-up or a child.

Brake's book 'Someone has died in a road crash' has a very simple goal - to help children recover and develop into happy and balanced people, using simple language and colourful pictures to encourage discussion and honesty between children and their carers.

We have received partial grant funding for this project and now we need to raise the final amount to get the books translated and printed so families can access them for free. And we need your help!

Brake's involvement (page creator)

Brake is a national road safety charity that works to prevent road deaths and injuries and support people bereaved in crashes.

We produce two resources for bereaved families, a picture book for children, and a coping with grief book for adults. Both are available for free (visit our website for details of how to order them).

About us

Brake provides free support to people who have been bereaved in road crashes.

We work to prevent road deaths and injuries, and to make communities safer by running road safety campaigns and initiatives including national Road Safety Week.
