Wellington Women's House

We provide low-cost, temporary housing and support for women on low incomes or in transition.

Wellington

The Wellington Women’s Boarding House Incorporated Society is a non-religious, women-centred not for profit organisation. Our vision is that every woman in Wellington should have a safe and comfortable home that enables her to meet her needs.

We provide low-cost accomodation and support to women on low incomes or transitioning to permanent accommodation. We welcome all women, including trans women, aged 18+ from all backgrounds.

The House in Mount Victoria was opened in 1992 by the then Governor-General Dame Cath Tizard. It has sixteen rooms and women are able to stay for six to nine months.

While we provide support to women while they are at the House, they must be able to live fairly independently as it is not staffed 24/7. We also provide support to women once they have left the House as outreach support where necessary or desired by each woman.
