At The National Kiwi Trust we increase survival chances for kiwi in the wild from 5% to 70%. We do this by incubating kiwi eggs from the wild and protecting the chicks until they are over 1kg in weight. We also operate guided educational tours of the facility so visitors can learn about the plight of the kiwi.
Since starting with this program in 1995 we have steadily increased hatch numbers. In 2004 we opened our state of the art facility and have hatched over 100 chicks a season for the last 3 years. Our hatch rate is consistently over the 90% mark and we consider ourselves to be leaders in this field.
We love Kiwis. Thanks for your great job. Given by Dirk & Doreen from Germany on 27 Jun
