Supporting vulnerable children, youth and families in high risk communities
Auckland
Hey everyone!
Ashley, Thealyssa and Clair here! We'll be running in the Tauranga Marathon in a month's time, on Saturday, 21 September. Between the three of us, we'll be tackling the 5km, 10km and the half marathon.
Every year we choose a charity to fundraise for that is close to our hearts, and this year we’ve chosen the Great Potentials Foundation.
Great Potentials is a charity which aims to reduce disparities in social and educational outcomes for Kiwi kids. They run amazing and highly successful programmes which help provide kids with the best start to life. These include:
- HIPPY: which supports parents in raising their children, and developing foundational skills for learning and life
- MATES: where intermediate/high school students are paired with a university "mentor" to help them with their studies. Clair did this, and absolutely loved it! :)
We would love any and all support for the wonderful work which they do!
Please check out their work at https://www.greatpotentials.org.nz, and if you're keen on becoming a MATES mentor, definitely hit them up (Clair's also more than happy to give a rundown!!)
Big hugs to y'all,
Ashley, Thealyssa & Clair
Clair worked for Great Potentials as a MATES mentor in her 3rd year of uni. She absolutely loved working with her mentees each week, as well as learning alongside her fellow mentors, which is why she is super keen to continue supporting their work!
Thanks so much Dilys!!! :D
Sorry for the super late reply - but thanks heaps! :)
