Striding Together: Relay for Stroke Awareness - Spencers

Join us for a day of unity and action as Spencers spearheads an empowering event in support of Stroke Foundation NZ. On Friday 24th May, from 9am to 6pm, we're launching "Striding Together: Relay for Stroke Awareness". Starting point will be the lifting bridge carpark, Whangarei Loop.

With already 24 incredible individuals signed up from Spencers, Kainga Ora, PlaceMakers, NZHome Loans, and more, the momentum is building. Please support our relay walk by donating to the Stroke foundation today!

Why advocate? The statistics speak volumes:

- 9,500 strokes occur annually, and this number is projected to rise. Stroke ranks as Aotearoa’s second leading cause of death and primary cause of adult disability.

- Shockingly, 75% of strokes are preventable, yet over 2,000 lives are claimed each year. Māori and Pacific peoples face disproportionate risks, with higher rates and younger ages of onset.

The economic impact is staggering, with costs estimated at $1.1 billion in 2020 and set to soar to $1.7 billion in 15 years by NZIER. Let's come together, stride forward, and make every step count toward a future free from the grip of stroke.
