Great end to the ocean swim season - King of the Bays 2.8km from Milford to Takapuna - I wanted to beat last years time, but I smashed it! Fantastic conditions both years too - lots of fun... 2013 - 56:56... 2014 - 49:40... And that's it! The season is done & dusted so I'll train up hard in the pool this year in preparation for another good season beginning at the end of this year!
Last ocean swim for the season this Saturday! State King of the Bays 2.8km swim from Milford to Takapuna. This will be my 4th State ocean swim for the season - I've also done 4 Auckland Central Masters harbour swims, a 5km swim in Lake Taupo (State ""Epic"" swim) as well as 7 Stroke & Stride events and 13 Kohi ocean swims. I've swum in Auckland, Wellington, Mt Maunganui & Lake Taupo! Swam across the harbour in Auckland twice - the Harbour Crossing & the Chelsea swim. Biggest disappointment of the season was bad weather for the Rangitoto swim so we had to do a contingency course which did not involve swimming from Rangi to St Heliers! Swam contingency courses in Wellington & Mt Maunganui too. Looking forward to more sea swims again next season - especially completing the Rangitoto swim!
Hi everyone, swam the Bays Swim in the weekend - from St Heliers to Tamaki Yacht Club. Lovely day for it and spent the rest of the day with friends in Mission Bay eating & drinking! 2 1/2 weeks til the Rangitoto to St Heliers swim - eek! Still swimming with the squad 2x a week and @ Kohi (Kohi Summer Swim Series) every Thurs night. Looking forward to STATE Sand to Surf Mt Maunganui and King of the Bays in March.
Hi all, on Saturday I participated in the State ""Epic"" 5km swim in Lake Taupo. Having never really done any Lake swimming (& being advised you are heavier & less boyant in freshwater) and not having done anything close to that distance before - I wasn't sure what I had got myself in for! But I had a lot of fun & did better than I expected to - finishing in 1:45:53. ""Epic"" 10km next year? ... Haha we'll see! This week Stroke & Stride starts up again and Kohi Summer Swim Series starts up again, and am looking forward to Wellington ""Capital Classic"" 3.3km in a couple of weeks!

For the big swims I've had a lot of luck with really nice conditions ... had a few interesting swims in the Kohi and Stroke & Stride series!
