North Shore half Marathon for Jesse

  • Update for 29/07/2013

      29 July 2013

Thank you for everyone who sponsored me to run the Auckland Marathon. I had got into my training 5 times a week and was feeling better about the challenge! Then about 4 weeks ago, my leg started to hurt. I put this down to 42 years of not running! Continued to run / jog and then walk on it. Eventually, it got more and more painful and so I went to see a doctor. After various X-rays, MRI, ultrasound, I was told that I had quite a nasty fracture that would need total rest & crutches for 6-8 weeks. NOT HAPPY!!! One of the things that I was upset about was the fact that I had decided to run the marathon for sponsorship for Jesse, and would have to back out after already getting some support from lovely family / friends. Eventually, we solved the problem tho and it was decided that my three children - Hannah, Josh & Harry would walk a half marathon on 1st September for this cause. They willingly agreed to do this and want to continue fund raising for Jesse! I am really proud of them for doing this - it will be a huge achievement for them, to seek support, to get up early on the day & to not only to complete the mileage but complete it as a team, stick together & help one another! If all goes successfully on the day I will be REALLY amazed & proud! Thank you for all your donations to date ...... I shall hopefully be back on my feet soon & until then, offers of coffee mornings gratefully received!! lots of love xxx
