Running 4 Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter

My name is Jason Gibson and I was very privileged to be an Event Volunteer with the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust at last years inargural Air New Zealand Hawke's Bay International Marathon in which the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service was chosen as the official Charity partner for this event.

Over the course of the two days of this fantastic event I was totally overwhelmed by the generosity of both the Hawke's Bay people and the many visitors from out of town both spectators and runners.

There were some truely amazing stories from people over the weekend of how they have been helped in some way by a Rescue Helicopter and their total gratitude and appreciation of the service.

Hearing some of these stories has inspired me this year to be on the start line of the AIA 10km event as everyday no matter where we live in New Zealand someone somewhere always needs the help of a Rescue Helicopter.

I would love to achieve raising $500.00 which would cover nearly an hours worth of fuel for the Rescue Helicopter and anything over this would be absolutely amazing as the cost to operate this vital service is around $2.2 million each year with half of that cost raised by the kind generosity of the Hawke's Bay community with the support from amazing people just like you.
