Running for Refugees. Fundraising for one Organisation and one Cause that provide services for Refugees.

Kia Ora Whanau!
We are a group of Uni Students at UoW that will run the 23km Tarawera Marathon (12 November) in order to fundraise for both New Zealand Red Cross as well as Soles for Syria.
There are numerous conflicts worldwide and many individuals and families are forced to leave their homes in order to find peace and security.
The Red Cross has been an advocate for peace and humanitarian aid for years and years and Soles for Syria aims to raise money in order to provide blankets, clothes, and other essential items to families in Syria.
Therefore, we'd like to raise money for both organisations for their truly inspiring and life-saving work.
Our Current Team is made up of three students at the University of Waikato:
1- Shaymaa Arif
2- Emily van Arendonk
3- Caitlin Tucker
4- Nina Fox
WE DID IT! 13 November 2016
Kia Ora supporters!
Yesterday we completed our half marathon in Rotorua!
Emily, Caitlin and Shay completed the 23k Trail marathon (which turned out to be close to 27km in the end) and Nina completed the 16km!
It was a very, very intense journey that was very challenging. It really allowed us to think of the journey that refugees must take on a daily basis in order to flee conflict and seek shelter and security.
Two more days of fundraising left! Thanks for all the support! We'll write about our experiences soon !
