Fundraiser for the Child Cancer Foundation and Gabby's Starlit Hope.
Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui
Before I start, I want to make clear that this fundraiser is being set for the Child Cancer Foundation and Gabby's Starlit Hope, not for our own profit.
3 days before Christmas last year, our son Marcel was diagnosed with a stage 3 Wilms tumour with a diffuse anaplasia (kidney cancer). He was operated on Christmas eve and the tumour was removed. It was almost 1kg and Marcel's right kidney had to be removed as well. Because the tumour had just started to burst near Marcel's liver, he had to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Everything going well, he will finish his cycles at the end of August.
Throughout this journey, we have received a tremendous amount of support from our friends and family (thank you, you know who you are) and also from the Child Cancer Foundation and Gabby's Starlit Hope and would love to fundraise for them.
The Child Cancer Foundation offers a huge range of help from financial to emotional, whether you need help with groceries one week or a friendly voice to talk to, you know you can always reach out and they will be there.
Gabby's Starlit Hope is a charity named after a little girl who gained her angel wings in 2013. During her cancer treatment, she began providing random acts of kindness to oncology kids, their parents and sometimes staff too. Marcel has benefited from Gabby's craft boxes many times at the hospital. Gabby's family wanted to keep her legacy going and are always looking for funds to reach her "random acts of kindness" goals.
I am Marcel's mum and we would like to give back in any way we can to the Child Cancer Foundation and Gabby's Starlit Hope.
