Greenplan Forestry - Kate Barron Trust

  • Update for 06/09/2012

      6 September 2012

Kate was trapped in the PGC Building for approximately 12 hours after the February 2011 Earthquake where she sustained life threatening crush injuries to her body, due to the extent of her injuries both her legs were amputated, including her hips. Kate spent 10 months in hospital and during that time she had approximately 30 operations. She was discharged from Burwood hospital on 22 December 2011. On her medical certificate the Doctors stated that she couldn't work until August 2011, but due to her sheer determination she proved them wrong as she achieved her first goal and she's been working 1 day a week since March. Kate's main goal is to get back to being as independent as she was before that dreadful day. The Kate Barron Trust has been set up to help make her life easier, to help her achieve her goals in life and to support her on her new journey.
