Raising awareness and money for LGFB NZ who help women 'look good and feel good' as they are going through the effects of cancer treatment.
Auckland
I first became aware and started fundraising for Look Good Feel Better in the year 2000 through my involvement in beauty pageants. As many people will be aware, community involvement and charity work is a big part of beauty pageants.
For a few years I helped raise awareness and money for the charity. In 2004 I attended my first LGFB pampering workshop at the Domain Lodge in Auckland and have been volunteering as a makeup artist and fundraiser ever since.
It is such an amazing charity to be a part of, albeit sometimes very emotional. I have not had any family members or close friends affected by cancer so I often leave the workshops it tears after hearing stories from the women who have been diagnosed with and going through treatment for cancer.
Although it was at first quite confronting to see so many bald headed women in one room, it has 'grown' on me.
I have thought about shaving my head for charity for many years and obviously considered 'Shave for a Cure' who raise money for blood cancer but with my long relationship with LGFB, I thought it would be appropriate to raise awareness and money for them, in still helping people diagnosed with cancer. It will also give me the experience of knowing what it is like for the women I work with, to lose their hair.
My 'excuse' for not having done this sooner is my job as a model. I am an agency represented commercial and curve model; having worked for many big brands, appearing in print and on TV and I also work as a Marilyn Monroe Impersonator for corporate and special events (with my own hair!!).
I am not going to lie in saying that I, like most women, am worried about the impact 'losing' my hair will have, on my self confidence and my femininity... but that is all part of it, so join me on my journey, follow my public page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/evanacorriccoach/ and please, if you can, give generously to show your support for my Look Good Feel Better fundraising.

Look Good Feel Better is a charity very close to my heart.
I have volunteered as a workshop makeup artist and fundraiser for them for 20 years.
I want to shave my head to honor many of the women we work with who lose their hair to chemo & radiation.
