Denis Marra's Sound to Sound Ride for Charity
Riding 1500kms to actively help where I can - environmentally & for Tearfund's global efforts

Hi All,
I have a bit of a long winded story for you - classic Denis. My son Reuben decided he wanted to walk the Milford track with me in 2023. Upon booking this I decided I would like to travel to Queenstown from Auckland in a carbon neutral way.
I'm an environmentally friendly travel nut as some of you will know!
The timeline worked out and the Sounds to Sounds bike ride will take me close to the Milford track. I will be self sufficient during this ride, that is carrying my tent and all other necessities.
The ride is from Queen Charlotte Sounds to Milford Sound, it follows the eastern side of the Southern Alps. It is 1500 kilometers, 16,000 meters of climbing (that's twice the height of Everest!).
I will be donating all money raised to Tearfund, an amazing Christian initiative that offers support worldwide.

Hi to all the wonderful folk who supported my S2S efforts; "my mahi, your donations, TEARFUND's benefit."
$743 raised for TEARFUND
S2S was a fantastic ride through beautiful Te Waipounamu scenery; 1500km (mostly on gravel) ~ 16,000m of climbing, many "passes" (3 over 1200m).
17 days riding, very few cars, ~10 nights in tent, fun company, great food, two amazing Sounds @ start & finish, the wonderful satisfaction of a "self-powered journey."

Dear Mark & Karen, my apologies for the late thank you. From Feb 24th I was in full S2S mode and intermittent internet contact. It was a fantastic ride, some "type 2 fun", incredibly satisfying and fulfilling to ride through Homer Tunnel and into Milford Sound.
