The Nepalese earthquake has touched my heart. I am funding my own travel, volunteering my time and raising funds for Active Hearts projects.

Auckland

I am a registered midwife and nurse based in Franklin with a special interest in maternal health. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and have spent the last 15 years travelling extensively through many developing countries. This has opened my eyes and heart to the vast global differences in quality of life and healthcare.

The recent Nepalese earthquake has touched my heart in the same way it did to many others.

Serendipity intervened during a routine birth chat, I met Dan Keys from the Active hearts Himalaya group and I was able to hear stories from Nepal directly.

This chance meeting has been the catalyst to spur me into putting in place a long held yearning to be actively involved in helping in these communities and using my professional skills and personal compassion to make a real difference.

I am funding my own airfares to Nepal and giving a month of my time to help in the village of Gogane and the surrounding areas. I am raising funds to work alongside the Active Hearts Himalaya group to finish building a library for the children, re-build the schools, re-build the paths so that the children can get to school and help set up a health clinic.

The opportunities are vast but I need your help. Please give what you can to support me.
