The race is on to save the critically endangered orangutans from extinction - you can help! Grab your friends, family or workmates and join The Great Ape Race for an evening of heart-pumping action at Auckland Zoo. Enter your team at www.lacticturkey.co.nz/GreatApeRace then register as fundraising champions here. All proceeds go towards saving orangutans in the wild.
Just 7,000 orangutans remain in the wild. They are critically endangered. Auckland Zoo has been supporting the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP) since 2002, and is currently working to fund their work rehabilitating and releasing orangutans into Pinus Janthro Nature Reserve in Aceh province. One night, two races! The 2014 Great ape Race will be bigger than ever! We'll all be racing at Auckland Zoo on Thursday 20 November, but family teams kick off at 4.30pm; social and corporate teams race separately from 5.30pm. There are additional points challenges; free 'Orang Icecreams'; and free juice for thirsty finishers. Plus, register before 10 October and go in the draw to win a Behind the Scenes Experience! Who knew doing good could be such fun!
