Saving Storm

Firstly apologies for not updating the givealittle page sooner as all updates have been posted to Storms Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/stormsjapanjourney A number of events have taken place since our journey began. One of the most significant was Storm had a CT scan at Massey which determined that an interventional procedure was possible, initially this was ruled out leaving open heart surgery as her only option. This was a HUGE win for us this is a much less risky and invasive procedure. It also meant Storm did not have to go to Japan and the operation could be performed in NZ. After months of planning the operation took place on the 23rd of November. It was a joint effort between a team from Massey, a Canine cardiologist from Brisbane and some human cardiologists. This was a world first in many respects. The operation was a complete success. The hole is 99% closed and the remaining 1% should close in the coming months naturally. Storm is doing great each day she is stronger and getting closer to her normal self. The total cost is yet to be determined but will be in the vicinity of $25,000. I set out on this journey with the goal to do whatever I had too to save Storm I had no idea how much help I would receive along the way, it is completely mind blowing. I really didn't want to ask for help, I saw this as my goal and didn't expect or want to burden anyone with what I was trying to achieve as everyone has their own life challenges and things to deal with so accepting help from others took some time to get used to, but the end of the day it wasn't about me it was about saving Storm. Everyonefs generosity and kindness was astonishing. Thank you so much to everyone who donated you all made this possible and I will be forever grateful to all those who helped. I feel extremely lucky and blessed.
