Help fundraise for children affected by Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu - sponsor me in the Wellington 10km run, 5 July!
Wellington
Hi Folks,
As many of you may know Vanuatu was hit by Cyclone Pam back in March. The cyclone caused the displacement of thousands of people from their homes and damage or destruction of 90% of buildings including schools.
Good friend and old flatmate Pala Molisa, who is from Vanuatu and a lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), has been helping set up an initiative through the uni to help rebuild early childhood centres in Vanuatu. Fundraising is already underway by groups including the Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association (VUWSA) and Pasifika Students' Council. These funds will be used in a sustainable manner to directly affect the most vulnerable children in Vanuatu.
So to help raise funds I have decided to throw down my bag of chips ... and enter my turkey drum sticks in the Wellington 10 km run on the 5 th July (not long)!! But first I need your encouragement to get me over the finishing line...
Please help show your solidarity with the people of Vanuatu and SPONSOR my run using this page! It might also help one guy loose a bit of a beer belly too... well maybe.
BTW - I intend to dress up for the occasion ..so far worst idea is Grounds Keeper Willie .. suggestions are welcomed (from donaters only, naturally!)
I will keep you posted.
Richie
