    Performing in Il Corsaro, my first lead role in a full opera, was a truly amazing and exhilarating experience! I loved every minute of it - even all the hours and hours of rehearsals and coaching sessions. I especially loved the challenge of extending myself and testing my performing and acting skills!!     3 days before I perform the main soprano role 'Gulnara' in the Opera 'Il Corsaro'. The weeks and months of rehearsal will soon culminate in performing my first full opera .... can't wait! I sing the lead female role on Friday 26th and Sunday 28th. Te Koki New Zealand School of Music (where I am studying for my Graduate Diploma) is presenting Verdi's Il Corsaro ? a tale of high adventure, of pirates and plunder, flame and blood, nobility and cruelty, true love and impatient passion. Set in an exotic land of cruel sultans and alluring harems, we see the invading corsair Corrado confront Seid, the evil Pasha who would brutally take Corradofs life. Gulnara, the Pashafs favoured concubine, tries to convince Corrado to kill Seid so she can pursue her newly-conceived passion for the young pirate. He refuses to act so dishonorably and she commits the bloody deed with her own hands ? but things donft end wellc.
