Thank you all for your generosity and prayers for Caleb. We are stronger as a family because of all the support, love and prayers you gave us.

We are happy to update that Caleb's second cycle of chemotherapy is going really well but we are told by the doctors that it may still be early for the side effects to be seen but nevertheless we are happy to see him well during his treatment. We are on the last night of his hydration and we might be sent home to Wellington for few days (yay!) but are likely to be in between hospital appointments still for blood tests and medical reviews as well. The most important meeting is with his EENT due to some unsuccessful hearing tests due to fluid in his middle ear that needs to be checked. He has been snotty and blocked the whole time we are here for his treatment so that needs to be sorted before the next cycle.

Our family (Walker and Caronongan) are grateful for the help you extended for us in these trying times. Prayers has been offered as well which makes this journey easier to handle as he is looked after well by the Healing Angels. No complications and infections is what we wanted and so far he has been kicking those away from him. Our happy boy is strong and a fighter.

    Have a blessed weekend everyone!

    Love

    Caleb Johann Walker

  • Caleb Update #2

      26 July 2015

Caleb has had his first course of chemo (a drug called Cisplatin) on Saturday 26th July. It is the first of four courses he will have over the next two months. He will be staying down in Christchurch between the first and second courses to ensure that he doesn't have any major reactions to the chemo. Cisplatin can cause issues with his kidneys and hearing so they will be monitoring them the next weeks to ensure they are not affected.

He will be able to return to Wellington after the second course and we will just fly back to Christchurch for a few days for the third and fourth courses.

He has received the first lot of his beads of courage from the children's cancer foundation. He also got a visit from the Argentinean rugby team while he was recovering from the surgery so we have added a few photos to the page so you can see how he been going. Thank you for all your support, it is greatly appreciated.

    Scott, Iya, Xavier and Caleb

  • Caleb- Day 1 from Surgery

      10 July 2015

Tumor removal from liver surgery was completed on Thursday 6pm and Caleb has been managing the pain well on epidural. He was able to start feeding slowly to allow his stomach to regain strength before full feeds can be given which will likely to be couple of days. At this point surgery will not be confirmed successful until laboratory tests are completed to find out if the tumor has been removed completely. The results will be given sometime next week.

At this point, we are waiting for Caleb to get well from surgery and from his viral chest infection before they can assess him for next plan of medical action. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers for full recovery so he will be able to tolerate any next medical plans that will be given to him.

We can't thank you enough for your generosity and may the blessings of good karma bestow upon you all, may it be in kind, good health, happiness or fulfillment of living closely with your loved ones.

We will keep you posted with updates about Caleb. Thank you very much.

    The Walker family
