  • Happy New Year

      1 January 2014

Happy new year! I spent the evening with Hayley, and tonight she said goodbye to a year that she will not miss one bit, but she also said hello, hello to a year that is going to have its ups and downs, but that is also going to be filled with so many wonderful experiences, and it is only with the love and support of the people in her life, and on this page, that she has that to look forward to. In less then a month we have managed to just about reach our goal of $10,000.00. This is going to make such a huge difference in Hayley's life... There have been offers flooding in from everywhere with offers to help Hayley tick off her bucket list. So a HUGE GIGANTIC thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, contacted, or done anything towards this. This page will remain live, and we will keep posting updates regularly, and we will especially be adding videos of Hayley starting to tick things off her bucket list! People are still welcome to continue sharing this page and donating, for as long as they would like as Hayley still has a lot of living to be done, so anyone who wants to help is so appreciated. Here's to 2014 being a year full of life! Happy New Year!

  • Hayley's Pet Scan results

      20 December 2013

Today, I got the results of my PET scan. The news wasn't something my oncologist, my family or I are thrilled about. No new spots of cancer, but there are still cancer cells in my first main tumour. This pretty much means that they didn't get all of the cancer the first time as it was more aggressive than they had expected (not exactly the news we were hoping for, also they don't have a lot of information about these tumours because they are rare). For now, we wait and see how the chemo is working against the tumours in my lungs by having another CT scan in another 5 weeks. If the chemo is working then we complete the cycle til the lungs are clear and my oncologist wants to take another look at whether there is a surgeon skilled enough to take on my tumour (wrapped around my sciatic nerve). She would like to take it to someone in Sydney and there's a large chance that I would become disabled in the left leg. If the chemo is not working, I will have to decide again if I want to stop or keep going through it. As far as the chemo that I started this week goes, it is going well. next week we are hoping that I can start taking my chemo at home. One is in the form of pills, one is fluid in a syringe that I'd have to swallow, gag, but it could definitely be worth it if it means I don't have to travel into town everyday (and be home on Christmas!).
