Help me provide a New Future to Rescued dogs Far Away

  • August 2015 donations transferred

      24 September 2015

Thank you to all you kind and generous donors.

The final amount that was so kindly donated in August 2015 (NZD 90) has been transferred to Let the Animals Live. This means that there are no more funds left to transfer and the cause is now closed.

One can never succeed if one does not try. I tried, and it was not enough. I am at least grateful that during my journey people became more aware of the problem of stray dogs in Israel, and generally in the world.

Please, always opt for adoption and not purchase of dogs. Be kind to them. Thank you so much.

    Maya

  • First batch donated to Let the Animals Live

      21 August 2015

As per my previous update, the donations for the month of July (NZD 535.00) were received and donated onwards to Let the Animals Live. I checked conversion rates and paid the charity 1,367.00 New Israeli Shekels.

After the next payment is received on 21 September (currently NZD 90.00) I will donate that too and close the cause page.

Again I thank you deeply for your kind support and generosity.

  • Cause to close, money to be donated to Let the Animals Live

      13 August 2015

To all the dear supporters of this cause, friends and strangers who believed in this project and in what I was trying to achieve, THANK YOU. Thank you thank you thank you. I am so deeply and eternally grateful to you for your generosity and for your kindness and for standing by me, believing that these dogs deserve a happily ever after of their own.

Unfortunately, you are too few and the cause is to close without achieving what I set out to achieve.

Two things happened in parallel. One – donations have completely ceased, while the goal is left too far out of reach. Two – the New Zealand Dollar exchange rate has become extremely unfavourable. Because all the fees are charged in US Dollars, the costs in NZ Dollars have ballooned out of any proportion. As explained in my previous update, shipping a single dog from Israel to New Zealand now stands at over NZD 10,000.

While I believe that the life of any one of those dogs is beyond any price tag, one has to wonder if paying 10,000 of theoretically donated money can be justified for not even saving two dogs as intended?

It is not an easy decision for me to make, as I am immensely invested in this emotionally. But I think it is the right call to make at this point in time.

The sum that has been donated to date is NZD 625 – it will be donated to Let the Animals Live. This way at least I know that the money is used to benefit those precious dogs who deserve it.

I will put here the proof of payment once this has been done.

As soon as I receive the complete donated amount from Give a Little (currently this is expected to be on the 20th of September) I will close the cause.

I hope with all my heart that Demi, Max and all the beautiful dogs will be adopted soon. I am deeply saddened by the fact that I was not able to help. Thank you again for believing in my cause and for supporting it.

  • Official costs blow me away. Hope fades.

Finally I have received a concrete offer from a pet shipping company. To arrange and ship a single dog costs USD 5395.00

(Not including the quarantine service here in New Zealand, cost of which I will get tomorrow).

    This means two things:

    1. No more talking about two dogs, it is just one. Probably Demi.

    2. I will need to get funded the fully stated amount of my cause or it's a no go.

If I cannot raise enough to ship even a single dog I will donate whatever has been collected directly to Let the Animals Live.

I can't understand how we got such an out-of-touch initial estimate but with the pace funding is received to date, I don't think it would have mattered anyway, as I can't seem to make it to goal as it is.

Hope is fading. It has faded completely for Max and who knows how long before he is adopted now. Now for Demi it is a waiting game.

    Thanks.

  • Two likely candidate for saving

After several consultation with the amazing professional dog handler in Let The Animals Live, we have narrowed down the list of dogs that I could rescue (based on nature, need, adaptability etc). It seems at the moment that the most likely candidates are Demi and Max.

  • RIP Vincent-one of the dogs featured on my page

Devastated by the news of Vincent's death. This is the tragedy of stray dogs in Israel. Vincent's body just gave up. He never got to feel the embrace of a loving owner. RIP
