Thanks to everyone who has donated!!! We hit the $3000 mark at midnight the night before the event, and then managed to raise $750 from spectators on the day! We also got 12 ponytails to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, half of them from people who signed up on the day! Thank you guys! And thanks to Cut Above and Unitec Ed Collective. We seriously couldn't have done it without you!

My name is Annika, Imma be shaving my head! Why, you ask? Well, here you go. ""Cancer patients, survivors and their families go through some of the hardest and heart-wrenching struggles imaginable. I myself have not suffered a loss but that does not diminish my immense respect for all the people who have. When I heard about this event I immediately decided to participate, because not only do we raise money for CanTeen but the hair itself will be donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. The idea that I can make someone going through an ordeal like this very happy with my hair makes this a small sacrifice to make.""

Hi everyone! My name is Caitlin, I am a second year Osteopathy student at Unitec and a bereaved sibling member of CanTeen. On New Year's Eve 2003, my older brother Alexander was diagnosed with T-cell Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. After years of chemotherapy, Alexander entered remission but in 2010 the cancer returned and he passed away aged just 18 years old. I joined CanTeen when I turned 13 and loved the positivity and vibrancy of the whole organisation. The people at CanTeen have been there for me through the darkest times of my life and also the happiest. I don't know where I would be without them. I will be shaving my hair to give back to everyone who has helped me and also in memory of my brother. Please sponsor me if you can :)

My name is Naomi, I am a second year Osteopathy student at Unitec. I have decided to shave my head to raise money for CanTeen and awareness of the important work that they do to provide support for young people whose lives have been impacted by cancer. CanTeen provides essential support through counselling, peer support, camps and activities for patients, siblings and bereaved siblings, along with many other services. This is funded entirely through donations and fundraising. Anything you can contribute, will make a difference.
