More Cancer treatment needed!! needing $150,000.00
Nationwide
Hello to you all, a little about myself - my wife and I have 5 children, one with a disability - Incontinentia Pigmenti, who needs a lot of care, I have been battling this disease since 2007, my condition is this -Relapsed Colon Cancer first diagnosis Mar 2007. Nov 2011 I was diagnosed with metastatic Bowel cancer, spread to 4 areas and given 3-6mths + to live.
Not happy with being told that I have been fighting every week ever since, I have undergone various Chemotherapy cycles and had Radical life saving Peritonectomy & HIPEC surgery in Sydney, followed by further Chemo in 2011. We hoped things were looking up...2012 cancer had spread to other areas, this lead us to Germany to undergo privately funded TACE chemo, Removab and other therapy's, recently completed two different types of radiation treatments, one privately funded in Auckland (specialist machine not here in ChCh) and some in Chch Hospital - both of which have helped me, I am currently having ongoing chemo treatments and are in contact with ARO (Auckland radiation oncology) and the German clinic re: further ongoing therapy.
so far we have self funded over $200,000.00 to extend my life as long as possible.
There is no doubt that all I have done to this point has held the disease back.
Have been told by NZ Medical professionals that NZ Govt funded options for any curative treatments have been exhausted.
The next plan of attack is to have the privately funded treatment suggested below.
Further Stereotactic Radiation treatment from Auckland Radiation oncology this we expect to cost 25k + travel and accommodation.
Also below maybe a further treatment option from Germany see letter below.
Dear Simon
Thank you very much for forwarding your latest CT results -
Based on your CT-results, we would recommend to get treated for another round of Removab combined with dendritic cell vaccination and the blockage of the immune checkpoint, by the so called monoclonal checkpoint antibodies.
Since you already have been treated with Removab you would benefit from the addition of a checkpoint-antibody approach.
As you probably know, Removab aims at a T cell response against the tumor, inducing T cell priming and cytotoxic T cell responses against your tumor cells.
The so called checkpoint antibodies have been developed because it has been shown that some tumors can evade the immune system, producing an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment which limits the effects of any T cell priming by dendritic cells and i.e. Catumaxomab (Removab).
Certainly, Removab and dendritic cells offer by themselves already a good treatment option, with remarkable responses in many of our patients, but of course, each tumor disease is individual, and each tumor might be differently able to evade the immune system by the above mentioned mechanism.
With the current implementation of checkpoint antibodies in our treatment approaches at HPOC, we are able to inhibit the immune suppressive tumor microenvironment, that leads to a deeper and long-term treatment response.
Please don´t hesitate to contact me, if you had any more questions.
Best wishes,
Jens Nolting, MD
Update for 04/11/2014 4 November 2014
Dear supporters Thank you for all the donations received to date, I am calling a stop to further donations, as have had further communications and advice. Treatment options have now been made available in Australia which means we wont need to spend so much on travel and accommodation, this is a fantastic opportunity to proceed with similar or even better treatments than were used overseas. Thank you all so much for the love , encouragement and support.
