We want to teach young people about the vital role plants play in our lives and encourage respect for all living things and that plants provide many of our medicines, fabrics and fuels.
The Children’s Garden is a unique opportunity to encourage environmental awareness in future generations.
About us
The Friends support the conservation of the garden, offer a friendly guiding service to visitors and help out in a whole range of other ways such as tending a special section of the garden.

The Friends of the Wellington Botanic Garden are raising money to pay for the garden. Using funds already raised, we hope to start construction on the first stage of the garden in January 2015. But to meet the goal of completing the garden by February 2016, we need other generous supporters. We estimate that the design, construction, education programme and long-term management of the Childrenfs Garden will cost up to $2.5 million. There is still $1.7 million to raise from philanthropic, corporate and community support.
