There is a 'scarcity of trained scientists' in Paupa New Guinea. One of the great things about my course is that we are conducting studies on the coral reef as we are learning. The data collected can be used to help preserve and restore coral reefs in Paupa New Guinea and else where in the world. As the Bay of Plenty Polytecnic returns to the same site each year, the data collected can be compared and used to show trends over time. The below web site (by the wildlife conservation society) gives a few details about Png and its place in the coral triangle, positive aspects and challenges that it faces. http://www.wcs.org/where-we-work/oceans/coral-triangle/papua-new-guinea.aspx
Thanks to everyone who has so generously contributed, it is greatly appreciated :)
