Camp Purple Live 2024 - Waikanae

$20,525 of $40,000 goal
Given by 264 generous donors in one year

Camp Purple Live 2024.

Nationwide

Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic autoimmune diseases that affect the digestive system, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Both cause debilitating pain and a severely reduced quality of life. New Zealand has one of the highest incidence rates of IBD in the world. Dealing with IBD as a child is even more challenging. It means missed school days, frequent hospitalisations, and often social isolation. That is why CCNZ organised a NZ based summer camp runs annually. Camp Purple Live!

The children and teens who attend are between 9 and 17 years of age and come from all over New Zealand. Many of these children have never before been to camp due to their disease.

The camp is extremely important. It helps the children build self-confidence, independence, self-esteem, resilience and empowerment. They get to meet kids their own age, usually for the first time, who understand the challenges that people with IBD face every day. It provides an opportunity to develop support networks with their peers and make lifelong friends. It lets them know that they are not alone.

Our next camp will be held in January 2024, at El Rancho in Waikanae, and we are in dire need of funding. This camp is provided at no cost to the attendees and is only made possible through the generous support of our sponsors.

Please watch this video taken at Camp Purple Live in 2018, https://youtu.be/cprtJottLHk and consider helping make our next camp a reality.

About us

Our mission is to make lives more liveable for everyone in NZ affected by IBD. We offer information channels, education and support networks. We seek to enhance their capability to live in a hope-filled environment which will contribute to their happiness.

Use of funds

Funds will contribute to campers and volunteers’ attendance at Camp Purple Live 2024.
