I want to make a difference by giving children basic needs to survive. A few dollars from you, many hours in the gym from me and together we'll make a huge difference in the lives of children in need.
In 8 weeks I will burn 30.000 calories counted through gym exercise only. This equates to 535 calories each day. If I miss out one session, I will have to make it up in the next one! Lets kick, run and spin hard :-)

Good morning everybody...
I thought I just quickly let you know about my last Wednesday at work. This morning it was actually quite easy getting up at 5.15AM. Probably because I knew that it would be my last time getting up this early for class and then taking the train into Wellington for a day at work.
Luckily I did get a seat! I forgot booking in days before, so when I did went to book all seats were taken. But with a bit of luck some people tend to book in full of enthusiam but then on the actual morning decide to turn around and sleep a little longer. This is what enabled me a bike, so thanks to those who decided to sleep :-)
Class was awesome...another trainer was hosting it and it was great. The entire class was motivated and ready to get working! What a feeling to be so active so early and still enjoying it :-)
Now I am in the office at Givealittle, sorting out my last things here and denying the fact it is my last day! But during my last days in New Zealand I won't have much time to think about sad good byes too much . I will be at the gym every day making the most of it and burning the last calories, buying souvenirs for friends and family, going out for dinner with the Givealittle team, having a little good bye party at home and hopefully in between getting my uni stuff done. :-)
Up to date, I have burnt 26195 Calories. Wohoo... the countdown is on !!!
Lovely, happy and energetic greetings and have a great day,
Lisa :-)

Wohoo... I just calculated my calories that I have burnt until now... and it came to 24410 :-)
Its a weird feeling because not only my fundraising challenge will be ending in 15 days but also my time in New Zealand. On 13 August I will be boarding the plane home to Germany. My time here was simply amazing, and as many of you know, has changed my life to a great extent :-) But the fundraiser is still teaching me many things and gave my last 2 months here a great twist!
I am looking forward to the next two weeks, burning my last calories with kick, ride, treadmill, dance, etc. I must admit, I have missed two days which I will be making up for end of this week and during the days I am off work before flying home.
The last few days its been a bit annoying as my hip is feeling a little funny. (Main reason for missing out before) I spoke to my room mate (physiotherapist) and apparently there is not too much I can do about it other than a certain stretch before and after work outs. Its not painful but sometimes quite irritating while running when moving my leg backwards. But I will stay positive, do my stretching and finish off these calories with fun and dedication :-)
I thought it might be a cool idea to show you how I have been, still am and will be burning my calories... I am a member of the City Fitness gym and here are links to the different classes (with short little videos) to show you what I've been up to!
Kick class Ride class Centergy Groove class
Thanks so much to all of you lovely people out there for your moral and financial support! It was such an amazing and surprising moment when it reached the $1000 mark :-) Wohoo... lets keep it up! And if you have some people who might like this challenge, or are a supporter of Unicef, or just reallycare about kids... forward this link to them and let them know. If everyone just tells another 2-3 people, it can push this fundraiser a little further each time!
Happy and sporty greetings for now and have a lovely day,
Lisa

Hey dear City Fitness members and possibly soon to be members :-),
I have started a lottery in co-operation with City Fitness to firstly raise money for Unicef but also to enable you to win a voucher (value of $385) for 3 months free gym membership and 3 1/2 hours of personal training.
So, if you want, please go ahead and read up about background and progress of my fundraiser in the other posts below.
Here is a little more information about what simple steps you need to take to get into the draw for the city fitness voucher.
So, if you think about it, its really that simple! Make a donation, email your details and wait until 10 August . And if you have friends who are already with City Fitness or are thinking about becoming a member... let them know about this! For a few dollars they could start at the gym for 3 months free membership and personal training hours.
Please feel free to email me at any time for any questions. Or if you see me at the gym, I'll be happy to answer any questions. :-)
Happy donating and thank you very much for your support,
All the best,
Lisa

Hello everyone.,
its my third week of the fundraiser and I am burning many many calories! Up until this morning I have burnt 8975 Calories in 20days. This means I have only 21,025 Calories to go until I board my plane ;-) Scary numbers... but I am confident!
With all your support and donations...you keep me motivated and focused on the core of it... its for those kids who deserve better!!
Last week Thursday, the Observer Kapiti wrote an article about the fundraiser, if you would like to read it, click here.
Have a beautiful day everyone and take care, Lisa

Hey there,
this week I will feel the consequences of one mornings mistake of pressing the stop instead of snooze button. Tuesday I missed my Spin class in the morning so Thursday, I will be in the gym doing 1 hour Spin class, 30 min jog and 1 hour kick... today I am still excited and looking forward to it but I'll let you know afterwards what the reality looked like ;-)
Thanks so much for all your kind donations! And its only been 12 days !!!
And also such a big thank you to the supportive media. For you people in Kapiti region, Thursday 24June there should hopefully be an article about this fundraiser! Radio More FM and the Breeze have included the information nationwide in their community notices and from home Germany I am also getting awesome responses. The Aachener Zeitung (regional newspaper from my hometown) will be publishing an article in Juli, and the radio station 1Live will be talking about my time abroad on a Sunday morning.
I can only say how much I appreciate the support to make this a successful campaign. Uptodate, we have already fed almost 200 kids with three meals for one day.
Keep it up and ask everyone around you to even make the smallest donations. If many give a little, just imagine...
Here a picture of proof. Taken after my first workout 12 days ago when my fundraiser started. 560 Calories after a 50min run!!!
Lovely greetings, Lisa

Hello everyone,
first of all I would like to introduce myself so you know who I am, what I am up to and what the story is with this fundraiser.
My name is Lisa and I am a student from Germany. I am currently in New Zealand doing my work experience at this lovely company Givealittle. Unfortunately, I only have 2 months left before I go back home to finish my studies. But for those last 56 days, I have had a great idea to make it a challenging but surely an unforgettable ending.
As you know Givealittle is an online giving portal where you can support causes that you care about. I have decided to start a fundraiser to support what I care about.
So, here is what I am up to...
- 30.000 Calorie Challenge to feed kids -
I started my fundraising campaign to raise money for Unicef. As a fundraising challenge many people train for example for a marathon or don’t eat for 40 hours.
My personal challenge will be to burn 30.000 Calories in 2 months. This equates to 535 calories each day. Well, and if I miss out one day, I’ll have to make it up on another.
For you guys to get an idea of what it takes to burn those calories, here some examples:
* 50 min running at the paste of 9-10 km/h (8km) burns 550 calories on the treadmill
* 1 hour kick boxing class burns approximately 400 calories. Adding another 15 min. cross trainer at 16km/h to that and I reached the daily target.
* 1 hour spinning class (which makes your legs feel like jelly) burns 700 calories
I think the challenge in this is keeping up the daily training and continuing this day by day for 8 weeks! It’ll be awesome because my last day of exercise is on the day of my departure. :-)
During this period, I will regularly be posting updates on my Givealittle blog, to let you all know, how I am doing; happy, exhausted, smiling, tired, seeking motivation, etc.
I truly appreciate any kind of support of your side. Think about it… a few Dollars/ Euros, a few minutes extra on the computer to spread the word. And I will kick and run and spin some butt :-) And hey, this will feed some empty stomachs out there!
Let’s get this started! I’m up for it, are you?

Here are a few ideas on how you can support this project
* Make a donation
Make a donation here(link). NO registration or personal data required! Payments are possible with credit card, (as New Zealander also cash card). Or some of you might have a Givealittle voucher? On my fundraising page, I have added a chart with currency conversions. Or find out here, how much you would like to donate.
If you would like to stay in the loop of the campaign and receive my blog update, simply enter your email address during the payment procedure.
* Forward this email
Please forward this email to all the people in your address book. This will spread the word of this campaign and hopefully feed some more kids in need.
* Do you have a website or blog?
If you have a website or a blog, I can send you a badge of my fundraising campaign linking to my donation page. That way it will reach an even wider spread of people.
* Facebook/ StudieVZ
If you are a member of Facebook or StudieVZ, search for my group called ’30.000 Calorie Challenge- Fundraiser”. Become a member of this group and then invite all your friends to join too. Just imagine how many people could find out about this great cause!
And, if you want you can “share” this on facebook or any other online community you are part of. On my fundraising page on the bottom left is an image like this !!!! saying “Share”. Click on it, choose your share tool and within a few clicks you can add it to your profile.
* Talk about it
Tell friends, family and colleagues about this fundraiser and maybe reach more people of interest. The more people know, the more likely donations will come in to help those kids out there!

- Unicef Plumpy’ nut -
* In order to survive, a child needs 1500 calories a day
* Unicef sells plumpy’ nut sachets each counting 500 calories --> 3 per day, per child
* 1 sachet of plumpy’ nut costs 0.68 cents
* They are available at the Online Shop http://unicef.org.nz/product/49/TherapeuticFood.html
The money that will be raised by this fundraiser will be used to buy as many of the plumpy' nut sachets and sent to a country where its most needed. I am in contact with the responsible person from Unicef, so I will be able to follow up on the success of this up to the end.
Come on and give your support on this challenge. Take your spot in this initiative and make a difference !
