Toroa Village urgently needs a new treated floor for the Community Learning Centre.
Nationwide
Toroa Village, on the coast of the the island of Makira, is very isolated with no roads and limited communication. 5 years ago the people of Toroa built a Community Learning Centre with the help of a kiwi, Andy Alderson from Pakuranga. Block courses are run at the Centre in rural development skills such as outboard maintenance, sewing, and carpentry. To extend and improve it's educational training programmes a work team from NZ installed a solar power system in Jan 2015.
Further work is needed to maintain the building by replacing the first floor, and improve communications by installing a radio transceiver.
Funding is needed to purchase the floor materials and radio equipment and subsidise the costs of sending a work team to Toroa.

We work with Toroa Village, Solomon Islands, to support their Community Learning Centre. In January 2015 we sent a team of 4 people from NZ to work alongside the village people. We need to send another work team to replace the first floor and carry out other urgent maintenance.
