I am looking to raise $25,000 for child cancer research (and will shave my head once we reach this target), in memory of Molly who died of
Nationwide
Molly was a healthy 17 year old when she was diagnosed with Rabdomyosarcoma - a rare and aggressive cancer. For someone so young and so full of life to be struck down so early in life put a lot of things in perspective for me and I want to be able to help in any way I can.
Blindsided NZ is on the way to becoming Charitable Trust, offering support and provision of Low Vision assessments, coaching and advocacy for those seeking support with their referrals to various organisations for further services.
After I was diagnosed with a couple of eye conditions causing vision loss, I struggled to find anywhere to share, to grieve, to source the right information and support to ultimately re plan my life and re-establish myself. I felt BLINDSIDED!
So I set up #Blindsided NZ to offer friendship, information, and support to those that have been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and other eye conditions resulting in vision loss and low vision. We set up a Facebook forum to develop a community who can find comfort, hope, and support through sharing stories and progress, asking questions, and offering advice.
Update for 06/03/2014 6 March 2014
Thank you to everyone who has provided support to date! I am also organising a motorbike ride in Wellington on the 4th May - save that date and support the event here: http://www.facebook.com/Bikersuniteagainstcancer
