Dig It! is a thriving community space where all people are welcome to learn and grow. Help us make it accessible for all!

Auckland

The Dig It! garden is a busting leafy haven in the heart of Royal Oak that showcases organic gardening practices to locals, schools and community groups.

Dig It! is a garden that welcomes all people, including people who identify as having an impairment or who experience mental illness. As a result, Dig It! is a diverse, vibrant and welcoming community to be a part of.

As well as offering free garden plots our Dig It! team also deliver free workshops on sustainability, organics and permaculture as well as health and wellbeing. We also offer one-on-one support for garden-lovers who are keen to build their knowledge and skills.

To ensure all people can enjoy the satisfying feeling of getting their hands stuck into the soil, the Dig It! team are redeveloping the gardens in 2016. Our vision is to create a site that meets the access needs of all people, including the elderly, kids and people with a mobility impairment.

To-date, using our team’s landscape design experience we’ve developed an accessible design and secured in-kind sponsorship plus supplier discounts on the materials we’ll need. We have also raised $13,500 in grant funding.

To complete our upgrade of this free community resource, we now need an extra $15,000. Your donation to support this redevelopment will make a lasting difference to our community.
